About The Ben Sheann
Tucked away in the quiet beautiful village of Strathyre, among the mountains, The Ben Sheann is an elegant and homely Victorian building that offers nine quirky yet comfortable rooms. We have updated this lovely rustic building but still keeping its special and eccentric Victorian features. With our handsome surroundings of the Trossachs National Park, we are a jewel for hikers and cyclists, with many treks and paths to follow which lead to magical sights. Our guest house balances the natural feel of rural living with the comfort of the twenty first century, with warm and cool pastels to relax even the most overstretched of people.
We are family run with help from some lovely people. Living in London but coming from Stirling we all decided to leave the hustle and bustle of city life behind, to serve other people who are needing a break away from everyday life. On site we have a coffee house offering hearty lunches.
We are 25 miles from Stirling which boasts its beautiful 12th century castle as well as the famous Wallace monument. 9.6 miles from Callander a picturesque town full of history, many pubs and restaurants as well as shops. Our nearest airport is Glasgow which is 58 miles away, or Edinburgh which is near enough the same distance. There is a small bus service which travels to Strathyre, but please check times as the buses don’t run too often. Strathyre, where we are based, is a pretty Victorian village on the eastern shore of the River Balvaig, which offers a shop and two bars. The village is surrounded by the stunning Strathyre forest, great for wildlife enthusiasts. Nearby Loch Lubnaig offers fishing, canoeing, kayaking etc, with a lovely coffee shop too. The location of this village makes an ideal base for exploring Rob Roy country with his grave just up the road at Balquhidder.
